Western Bistort “Polygonum bistortoides”

crw_9207_1_1Western Bistort “Polygonum bistortoides” Buckwheat Family (Polygonaceae).  Perennial, plant 1-2′ tall, mostly basal leaves are long and narrow, small white five lobed flowers in a terminal spike.  Blooms all summer in wet meadows throughout OR & WA primarily at higher elevations.  Top photo:  Big Summit Prairie 6/17/2008  Bottom photo Mt.
