Ocean Spray “Holodiscus discolor” Rose Family (Rosaceae).  Perennial, shrub 4-9′ tall, straight slender stems with alternate leaves 1-5″ long, flowers white to cream on leafless sprays 5-10″ long and about as wide, the individual flowers are approx. 1/8″ in diameter. Indian Pipe “Monotropa uniflora”  Heath Family (Ericaceae).  Perennial, plant saprophytic, 2-10″ tall, pure white turning black with age, flowers approx. 1″ long.  Blooms in late spring-early summer in humus of shaded conifer forests in Western OR. & WA and in the Blue Mts. of N.E.
