Pileated Woodpecker "Dryocopus pileatus" Length 16.5″, wingspan 29″, weight 10 oz. Long necked, broad-winged, and long-tailed with prominent crest. The females have red feathers on the back half of their heads and lack the "red lipstick" line that parallels below the white band across the face that is a characteristic of males.
